Goldfish Sushi & Yakitori, the acclaimed Japanese restaurant at Marina Mall, Abu Dhabi, is set to host an evening that celebrates culture, collaboration, and craft. On Thursday, 16 October, the restaurant presents Many Hands – Platters of Tradition, a one-night-only dining experience curated by two culinary visionaries — Chef Akmal Anuar and Chef Khaled Alsaadi.
Priced at AED 285 per person, the evening invites guests to gather around a shared table for an expressive journey of flavours and heritage. Offered in two seatings (6 pm and 9 pm), the set menu is designed as a cohesive composition, prepared and served “many-hands style” a symbolic gesture of unity that brings together both chefs’ Arab roots through a refined Japanese lens.
The evening opens with Maraq, a rich meat-based soup with shrimp wontons and onions, followed by Smoked Eggplant and Bukhari Rice presented nigiri-style, and a Harissa and Walnut Dip paired with soft Shokupan bread.
At its heart lies a whole lamb — a centrepiece reimagined across several dishes that explore diverse cooking methods and interpretations: Honey-Glazed Lamb Ribs with Smoked Furikake, Sticky Teriyaki Lamb Shank, Lamb Skewers, Lamb Floss with Majboos Spices, and Fahsa, a slow-cooked stew rooted in Arabian tradition. Sides such as Mushroom and Okra Bamia and Zurbian Rice complement the spread, while dessert brings a gentle close with Cinnamon Butter Pound Cake served alongside Honey Ice Cream and Sidr Honey.
“Many Hands is about more than food; it’s about connection. When chefs cook together, ideas move freely, techniques merge, and something deeply human happens around the table,” shares Chef Akmal Anuar.
“Our cuisine carries memory, family, and place. Many Hands lets us bring that spirit to the table, together, through craft and respect,” adds Chef Khaled Alsaadi.
Chef Akmal, revered for his minimalist precision and artistry, has spent over two decades shaping the region’s dining scene through acclaimed, Michelin-recognised concepts such as Goldfish Sushi & Yakitori, Harummanis, and Funkcoolio. Chef Khaled, an Emirati culinary artist celebrated for reinterpreting local cuisine with modern finesse, brings his global experience from kitchens like Nobu, Hakkasan, Ossiano, and Bread Street Kitchen.
Together, the two chefs promise a night where heritage meets innovation, a dining experience that honours culture while pushing creative boundaries.
