Top Things to Do in Dubai This Weekend: 9–11 October

The weather is finally cooling, World Mental Health Day falls on Saturday, and there’s a good mix of things happening across the city. Here’s what we’d make time for this weekend. For the bigger picture of what’s on this month, see our top things to do across the UAE in October.

Step into the Land of Ooo at Museum of Candy

Adventure Time takeover at Museum of Candy, Oud Metha, Dubai

Cartoon Network is marking the launch of its new series, Adventure Time: Side Quests, with a takeover of Museum of Candy from Saturday. Fans can find Finn, Jake and Princess Bubblegum around the museum, with photo spots and interactive corners throughout. There’s also a calligrapher on site who will personalise Adventure Time merchandise, and giveaways while stocks last. The museum’s sugar-coated rooms already look a lot like the show’s Candy Kingdom, so the fit is a natural one. It’s an easy win for families, and for adults who grew up on the original.

When: From Saturday 10 October, while stocks last. Saturday–Sunday 10am–9pm; Monday–Friday 11am–9pm

Where: Museum of Candy, Ground Floor, Sounbulah Building, Umm Hurair Road, Oud Metha, Dubai

Start the day with sound healing and a stretch at Kairos

Sound healing and stretch session at Kairos Coffee Assembly, Al Quoz

For World Mental Health Day, Kairos Coffee Assembly in Al Quoz is running two early-morning sessions with instructor Samantha Tabaldo. Each one opens with gentle sound healing and moves into a slow, full-body stretch, before finishing with a coffee. For this weekend only, the menu adds a few limited drinks, including the Kairos Matcha and the Stretch Cloud, made with coconut water and a peach foam. Spaces are capped at 20 per morning, so book ahead.

When: Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 October, 8am–9am

Where: Kairos Coffee Assembly, Al Quoz, Dubai

Price: AED 130, including a drink of your choice

Try the piehaus × 852 Bakery collab before it’s gone

piehaus × 852 Bakery collaboration pies, Alserkal Avenue

The sixth edition of piehaus’ counter culture series pairs founder-chef Milan Jurkovic with Chef Kelvin Cheung of Jun’s and 852 Bakery. It’s the first time the series has left piehaus’ own counter. The two chefs found common ground in two limited-edition pies. The Chicago Dip Pie draws on Milan’s memories of ćevapi in the Balkans and Kelvin’s of Italian beef sandwiches in Chicago, with smoked beef cheeks, Gouda and caramelised onion, served with beef jus for dipping. The Little Ube Pies are sweeter, pairing ube with kajmak cream, pecans and white chocolate. Both run until 16 October, so this weekend is a good time to go.

When: Until 16 October

Where: piehaus, Warehouse 22a, Alserkal Avenue, and 852 Bakery at Jun’s, Downtown Dubai. Also available on Deliveroo via Liu by Jun’s

Price: Chicago Dip Pie AED 82; Little Ube Pies AED 44

Every purchase comes with an extra 100g of steak for free. There are free games, including a claw machine and a wheel of fortune, with prizes and limited-edition merch to win, plus karaoke all evening.
