The 2025 Met Gala, themed "The Art of Black Dandyism: Tailoring as Liberation," transformed New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art into a dazzling spectacle of fashion, culture, and history. While the event honored Black sartorial excellence, it also marked a watershed moment for Indian representation, as Bollywood icons, designers, and global tastemakers made unforgettable debuts and triumphant returns.

Shah Rukh Khan: The King of Bollywood Takes the Met

Bollywood’s beloved Shah Rukh Khan made history as the first Indian male actor to grace the Met Gala’s iconic blue carpet. Dressed in a custom Sabyasachi tailcoat with exaggerated lapels, SRK embodied timeless elegance. The minimalist black-and-white ensemble was elevated by eclectic touches—most notably, a bold gold "K" pendant that paid homage to his signature charm.

Priyanka Chopra Jonas: A Nod to Heritage with High Glamour

Global superstar Priyanka Chopra Jonas, a Met Gala regular, stunned in a Balmain polka-dot suit paired with a dramatic train. But the true showstopper was her 241-carat Magnus Emerald necklace from Bvlgari’s Polychroma collection—a historic piece that echoed the night’s theme of opulent storytelling through fashion.

Diljit Dosanjh: Punjabi Royalty Meets Modern Dandyism

Singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh made a grand debut in a Prabal Gurung-designed golden sherwani, layered with a Punjabi-scripted cape and a gem-studded turban. The look celebrated his cultural roots while embracing the gilded extravagance of dandyism, complete with Golecha jewels that added a regal touch.

Kiara Advani: Maternity Wear Reimagined

Kiara Advani, glowing in her pregnancy, chose a Gaurav Gupta masterpiece—a black gown with a gold breastplate shaped like interlocked hearts, symbolizing the bond between mother and child. The flowing white train added an ethereal grace, proving that maternity fashion can be both powerful and poetic.

Natasha Poonawalla: A Tribute to Parsi Craftsmanship

Natasha Poonawalla dazzled in a Manish Malhotra couture creation adorned with Gara embroidery and pearls, honoring her Parsi heritage. Yet, it was her colossal emerald ring—one of the world’s largest—that stole the spotlight, embodying the night’s theme of audacious luxury.

Isha Ambani: Where African Textiles Meet Indian Opulence

Isha Ambani merged continents in an Anamika Khanna ensemble featuring geometric African-inspired patterns on a structured corset. The pièce de résistance? A suite of heirloom diamonds from her mother, Nita Ambani, blending legacy with contemporary design.

Mona Patel: The Futurist

Entrepreneur Mona Patel turned heads with a Thom Browne AI-powered suit and her robotic companion, Hector. The tech-forward look highlighted her passion for innovation, proving that the Met Gala isn’t just about the past—it’s a playground for the future.

Designers in the Spotlight: Manish Malhotra & Sabyasachi

While dressing stars, Manish Malhotra and Sabyasachi also stepped onto the carpet as guests. Manish wore a velvet embroidered coat from his own label, accessorized with emerald-and-diamond jewels. Sabyasachi kept it minimalist yet striking in a quilted coat and feathered headpiece, letting his craftsmanship speak volumes.

India’s Global Fashion Moment

The 2025 Met Gala wasn’t just a red-carpet event—it was a cultural milestone for India. From SRK’s historic walk to Diljit’s turban pride, each look celebrated heritage while pushing boundaries. As the world watched, one thing became clear: Indian fashion isn’t just arriving on the global stage—it’s commanding it.
