- Why Gen Z Loves the 'Outdoorsy' Streetwear Trend – The Rise of Adventure-Inspired Fashion
Why Gen Z Is Embracing the Outdoorsy Streetwear Trend Why Gen Z Loves the 'Outdoorsy' Streetwear Trend – The Rise of Adventure-Inspired Fashion Why Gen Z Is Embracing the Outdoorsy Streetwear Trend by Khadija Husain 25 September 2024 If you’ve noticed a bunch of people looking like they’re about to go on a hiking trip while just grabbing coffee at your favorite café, you’ve spotted the rise of Gorpcore —and yes, it’s as cool as it sounds. What exactly is Gorpcore, you ask? Think of it as outdoorsy fashion meeting streetwear. Named after “Gorp,” which stands for “Good Ol' Raisins and Peanuts,” the classic hiking snack, Gorpcore is a fashion trend that’s all about functional, durable clothing originally made for outdoor activities. Only now, it’s made its way to the streets of your city, and Gen Z is obsessed. So, What’s Gorpcore Really? Gorpcore is where fashion meets the wilderness. We’re talking puffer jackets, chunky hiking boots, fleece vests, cargo pants, and technical rain jackets. The whole idea is to look like you just stepped off a mountain trail, even if you’ve never seen one up close. But it’s not just about looking rugged—it’s about rocking fashion that’s practical. The oversized silhouettes and tons of pockets? Super useful. The durable fabrics? They’re built to last. So, it’s no wonder Gen Z, who are all about sustainability and mixing high fashion with everyday comfort, are embracing this trend. Plus, in a world where everyone wants to feel more connected to nature, Gorpcore gives off the right vibes without even leaving the city. The aesthetic screams “I’m adventurous, but also cool enough to know the best thrift stores.” Why Is It So Popular? One word: versatility. Gorpcore pieces are perfect for transitioning between different settings. Heading out for a hike or just popping out for groceries? Same outfit, no problem. Gorpcore is casual but polished enough for urban environments—making it the perfect mix of style and practicality. But what truly sets it apart is the focus on sustainability. Many Gorpcore staples are made from recycled materials, which Gen Z loves because of their eco-conscious approach to life. It’s fashion that doesn’t sacrifice the planet—and let’s face it, in today’s world, that’s a major selling point. Also, Gorpcore lets you experiment. You can pair a Patagonia puffer jacket with wide-leg jeans, throw in some Nike hiking boots, and finish the look with a North Face beanie. It’s easy to style and allows anyone to mix and match high-end outdoor brands with thrifted treasures. Brands That Are Owning Gorpcore Patagonia : Known for their commitment to sustainability, Patagonia’s jackets are a Gorpcore essential. Their Down Sweater Jacket will set you back around AED 800, but it’s made from 100% recycled materials, so it’s a guilt-free splurge. The North Face: This brand has Gorpcore in its DNA. Their classic Nuptse Jacket is a must-have, coming in at AED 1,200. It’s not only stylish but also super warm and water-resistant, perfect for when you actually take it outdoors. Arc'teryx: For those who want to invest in high-performance gear, Arc'teryx offers sleek designs with technical precision. Their Beta LT Jacket, AED 2,000, is both waterproof and windproof, making it a favorite for serious outdoor lovers—and those who just want to look the part. Nike ACG (All Conditions Gear): Nike’s ACG line is tailored to Gorpcore fans, with retro-inspired pieces that are both functional and fun. Their cargo pants come in at around AED 500, while the ACG hiking boots are roughly AED 600, bringing the perfect blend of durability and style. Salomon: For footwear, Salomon is the ultimate go-to. Their XT-6 Trail Running Shoes , priced around AED 800, are a streetwear favorite thanks to their rugged design and bold color options. Uniqlo : For those looking for something more affordable, Uniqlo offers Gorpcore staples like their fleece jackets and vests, starting from AED 150. It’s the perfect entry point if you’re just starting to build your Gorpcore wardrobe. How to Style Gorpcore Like a Pro The best part about Gorpcore? It’s all about layering. Think oversized fleece vests over graphic tees, paired with wide-legged cargo pants. Add a colorful puffer jacket and top it off with chunky hiking boots. You can even accessorize with technical backpacks and beanies. Don’t forget to mix materials—fleece, nylon, Gore-Tex—it’s all about the texture. And when it comes to colors, go bold or earthy. Neon accents or earth tones like olive green and beige are key to keeping your look fresh yet functional.
- The Artistry Behind the World’s Most Exclusive Kinhari Nuri Collection
The Artistry Behind the World’s Most Exclusive Kinhari Nuri Collection by Aziz Mansoor 30 September 2025 In a world increasingly defined by speed and convenience, true craftsmanship has become a rare luxury. Enter Kinhari Nuri, Angular Momentum’s latest collection, where the centuries-old Japanese lacquer technique of Urushi meets the meticulous precision of Swiss watchmaking and fine writing instrument design. The result is a collection that is as much a celebration of artistry as it is a statement of timeless elegance. The magic of Kinhari Nuri begins with Urushi, a natural lacquer treasured in Japan for over a thousand years. Traditionally used in the creation of ceremonial objects and fine art, Urushi is renowned for its durability, depth, and luminous quality. In Switzerland, within a dedicated atelier, this lacquer is applied in multiple painstaking layers, each building upon the last to create mesmerising textures, colour gradients, and subtle depth effects. The technique demands patience, steady hands, and an intimate understanding of materials' qualities that mirror the precision and innovation of Swiss craftsmanship. Each piece in the Kinhari Nuri collection, whether a watch dial, case, or fountain pen, is the result of months of dedicated work. The process is a dialogue between two worlds: the rich, tactile tradition of Japanese lacquer art and the exacting technical standards of Swiss manufacturing. The result is more than a product; it is a work of art, a piece that reflects the philosophy of those who create it. Every curve, finish, and detail is an expression of patience, precision, and passion. Exclusivity is at the heart of Kinhari Nuri. Each item is produced in extremely limited editions, ensuring that no two pieces are ever exactly alike. This rare combination of beauty, technical mastery, and scarcity elevates Kinhari Nuri beyond mere luxury; each creation becomes a statement, a collector’s piece, and a potential heirloom. What sets Kinhari Nuri apart is not only its aesthetic appeal but also its commitment to enduring quality. Each piece carries the weight of centuries of tradition while embracing modern design sensibilities, ensuring it remains timeless in both style and function. It is this harmony of old and new, East and West, craft and innovation that defines the collection’s singular allure. Since 1998, Angular Momentum has been at the forefront of this philosophy, producing limited-edition timepieces and writing instruments that celebrate heritage, artistry, and sustainability. With Kinhari Nuri, the brand reaffirms its dedication to creating objects that are not only visually striking but also deeply meaningful—pieces that invite the owner to pause, appreciate, and engage with the story behind their creation. For connoisseurs of fine design and admirers of quiet elegance, Kinhari Nuri is a collection; In every watch and pen, the dialogue between Japanese artistry and Swiss precision comes alive, offering a tactile and visual experience that transcends the ordinary, inviting you to witness the extraordinary.

Oris Launches the New York Harbor Limited Edition II by Rave Staff 18 August 2025 In New York, time feels different. It moves with the tide, it shifts with the skyline, and it carries the rhythm of a city that never pauses. It’s this energy and this urgency—that Oris captures with its latest creation: the New York Harbor Limited Edition II . This 2,000-piece Aquis Date, arriving globally in August 2025, is more than a watch. It’s a story of craftsmanship meeting conservation. The dial, a luminous aqua green mother-of-pearl, shimmers with the same fluid light you see when the sun catches the harbor’s surface, a subtle tribute to the oyster shells that inspired it. At 43.5 mm, framed in stainless steel with a unidirectional bezel, it’s engineered for performance yet designed with quiet elegance. Details matter. The domed sapphire crystal, treated with anti-reflective coating, deepens the play of light across the dial. Hands and indices glow with Super-LumiNova®, ensuring clarity whether you’re diving at 300 meters or glancing at your wrist under city lights. And the choice between a polished stainless-steel bracelet or an aqua green rubber strap makes it a companion for every setting, sharp with tailoring, effortless with weekend denim. Retailing at CHF 2,550, it’s a collector’s piece that feels grounded in purpose. Because behind the design lies a greater mission. Each watch supports the Billion Oyster Project, a pioneering initiative restoring life to New York Harbor. Since 2014, over 150 million oysters have been returned to the water, creating natural reefs, recycling discarded shells, and engaging thousands of students and volunteers in the city’s environmental revival. As Oris Co-CEO Rolf Studer reflects: “The ecological challenge can feel overwhelming, but when we work together, it gets easier. We’re proud to collaborate again with Billion Oyster Project and witness first-hand the change we’re bringing together.”
- Maison Repossi Redefines Elegance with Its New Boutique Concept in the Middle East
Maison Repossi Unveils a Bold New Vision of Elegance in the Middle East Maison Repossi Redefines Elegance with Its New Boutique Concept in the Middle East Maison Repossi Unveils a Bold New Vision of Elegance in the Middle East Rave Staff 8 January 2025 Maison Repossi, the esteemed jeweler from Place Vendôme founded in 1957, has unveiled a groundbreaking boutique concept that celebrates its emblematic aesthetic codes and architectural philosophy. This ambitious project includes the opening of two first-ever boutiques in Abu Dhabi and Riyadh, alongside the stunning renovation of its flagship store in the Dubai Mall. Repossi’s new boutiques draw inspiration from Japanese minimalism and artistic movements such as Bauhaus, as well as the visionary works of architects Oscar Niemeyer and Tadao Ando. These influences converge in a design that marries creativity with artistic expression, reflected in every facet of the boutique's architecture. Central to the concept are taut lines and a travertine façade, punctuated by a single lacquered line. This subtle yet striking detail pays homage to the Maison’s aesthetic heritage, including the signature bar of the 'Serti sur Vide' collection and the vibrant lacquer of the iconic 'Berbere Chromatic' ring. Unique to each region, the boutiques are personalized with distinctive colors: green for the Middle East and blue for the United States. Repossi’s boutiques are meticulously designed to immerse clients in the sensation of stepping inside a jewelry box. Handcrafted details mirror the artistry of the Maison’s jewelry, while the color palette, dominated by Greige and textured marmorino, exudes timeless elegance. The boutique walls showcase layering and asymmetry—hallmarks of Repossi’s jewelry designs, such as the Antifer rings. The Middle Eastern boutiques prominently feature green hues inspired by emeralds, a gemstone deeply emblematic of the Maison. This verdant theme flows through the interior and exterior, accentuated by green-stained wood panels reminiscent of Flavin Judd’s designs from Repossi’s Monaco flagship. Cherry wood elements, a nod to Donald Judd’s furniture creations, further enhance the space, offering a dynamic interplay of textures and materials. Echoing the iconic Repossi boutique at Place Vendôme, the new spaces reinterpret signature elements such as the asymmetrical display case designed by Rem Koolhaas. This distinctive feature stands as a modern totem of the Maison’s architectural ethos, blending understated opulence with minimalist sophistication. The boutiques will present a curated selection of Maison Repossi’s iconic collections, including Antifer, Serti sur Vide, and Berbere. Additionally, exclusive High Jewellery pieces from the Blast and Brevis collections will be available, highlighting the Maison’s dedication to excellence and innovation. With its new boutique concept, Maison Repossi reaffirms its position at the intersection of artistry and craftsmanship. - The Secret Beauty of the Armoriale Répétition Mystérieuse
The Enigmatic Grace of the Armoriale: A Mysterious Refrain The Secret Beauty of the Armoriale Répétition Mystérieuse The Enigmatic Grace of the Armoriale: A Mysterious Refrain Rave Staff 4 December 2024 On December 2nd, the birthday of Parmigiani Fleurier’s founder, Michel Parmigiani, the brand unveiled its latest masterpiece: the Armoriale Répétition Mystérieuse . This new creation embodies the pinnacle of haute horology, seamlessly blending artistic mastery with exceptional acoustic engineering. The timepiece is a tribute to Michel Parmigiani’s unwavering commitment to preserving the craft of mechanical art, marking a significant milestone in the Objets d'Art collection. A Unique Design: Tradition Meets Innovation The Armoriale Répétition Mystérieuse is a watch unlike any other, starting with its striking 42mm white gold case. This piece, designed exclusively for this model, stands as a testament to Parmigiani Fleurier’s craftsmanship and aesthetics. The case is adorned with a hand-engraved guilloché pattern inspired by the spiral of a pinecone—a symbol of natural harmony and perfection. The motif reflects the golden ratio and Fibonacci sequence, connecting the design to universal geometry and the beauty of nature. At the heart of this timepiece lies the ancient art of Grand Feu enamelling. Each layer of pastel green enamel is carefully applied, heated to 800°C, and polished by hand to create a captivating depth. This painstaking process transforms raw materials into a living work of art, revealing intricate details and vibrant colours that seem to dance with light. The watch’s front is an immersive experience in craftsmanship, while the back hides a secret. Michel Parmigiani The Mystery of the Secret Dial The Armoriale Répétition Mystérieuse defies conventional design. Instead of displaying the time on its face, this timepiece offers an artistic display of craftsmanship. The front of the watch features a translucent pastel green enamel, showcasing a finely guilloché pinecone pattern. Hidden on the reverse side of the watch, however, is the secret dial: a rose gold hour and minute marker discreetly placed on a Guatemalan white jade disk. Circular indices are engraved, offering the wearer a personal and intimate way of telling time. This "secret" dial turns the act of checking the time into a deeply personal experience. Emotional Sound: The Power of the Gong A highlight of the Armoriale Répétition Mystérieuse is its minute repeater, a revered complication that chimes the hours and minutes on demand. The minute repeater was historically used to tell time in the dark, and Parmigiani Fleurier has reimagined this tradition with an innovative twist. The timepiece features extra-long "cathedral" gongs that wrap around the movement nearly twice, producing a resonant, bell-like tone. Each strike of the gong fills the air with a profound sound that echoes through time, creating an emotional connection between the wearer and the artistry of the timepiece. Guido Terreni, CEO of Parmigiani Fleurier, explains, “We created the Armoriale Répétition Mystérieuse to transcend the simple act of telling the time, inviting its owner to connect with time purely through sound, honouring the original purpose of minute repeaters. Each strike becomes a profound connection to the mystery of chiming watches in its purest form.” Masterful Movement: Renaud Papi’s Craftsmanship Inside the Armoriale Répétition Mystérieuse is a manual winding movement crafted by the renowned watchmaker Renaud Papi. Comprising 392 components, the movement features a 72-hour power reserve and ensures unparalleled clarity in timekeeping. The movement is housed in a case designed to amplify the sound of the gongs. Each component is carefully calibrated to maximize resonance and maintain precision, creating a harmonious balance of mechanics and artistry. Bespoke Resonance: A Watch Box Like No Other To complement the Armoriale Répétition Mystérieuse , Parmigiani Fleurier has created a bespoke watch box made of Risoud spruce wood. The resonator inside the box enhances the sound of the minute repeater, allowing the owner to modulate the resonance by placing the watch at different points within the case. This rare sensory experience elevates the watch’s chimes to a new level, making each moment of listening a unique event. A Legacy of Craftsmanship The Armoriale Répétition Mystérieuse is not just a timepiece; it is a celebration of art, sound, and nature. With only five unique pieces in existence, each one will be personalized to mark a milestone in contemporary watchmaking. As Michel Parmigiani so eloquently put it, “In nature, every form, every pattern bears the imprint of perfection—a perfection found in the spirals of a pinecone, where the golden ratio and the Fibonacci sequence intertwine to reveal the harmony of the world.” This timepiece is a tribute to that perfection, capturing the beauty of nature and the timeless elegance that inspires every creation from Parmigiani Fleurier.
- Lacoste Presents Fall-Winter 2025 Collection
Fall-Winter 2025 by Lacoste: Sporty Elegance Redefined Lacoste Presents Fall-Winter 2025 Collection Fall-Winter 2025 by Lacoste: Sporty Elegance Redefined by Rave Staff 10 March 2025 Returning for the second time to the Philippe Chatrier court at the iconic Roland-Garros stadium, Lacoste captivates the fashion world with its Fall-Winter 2025 collection. Under the creative direction of Pelagia Kolotouros, the show presents a masterclass in contemporary French elegance, paying homage to Lacoste’s tennis heritage while delving deep into the life of its founder, René Lacoste, beyond the court. Transcending mere sportswear, Kolotouros reimagines René Lacoste's life as an entrepreneur, innovator, and socialite. The collection seamlessly blends the brand’s rich history with a fresh, urban sophistication. The legendary Roland-Garros clay court is transformed into an intimate and cultured gathering space, evoking the refined and elegant lifestyle of "The Crocodile" as he transitions from tennis champion to a figure of high society in the 1930s. This setting provides a stunning backdrop as contemporary silhouettes intertwine with the spirit of an era where René mingled with fellow athletes, Hollywood actors, and titans of industry and fashion. While the brand’s legacy remains at the core, raw energy and refinement breathe new life into iconic pieces. The collection offers a striking mix of tailoring and fluidity, chic utilitarianism, and modern elegance. Sensuality infuses the designs, paired with daring proportions and a subtle nod to 90s fashion, resulting in an effortlessly dynamic and versatile wardrobe. Key looks from the runway include bias-cut tops, pleated skirts, felted double-breasted blazers in a vibrant pink mélange, and scarf dresses that mingle harmoniously with slouchy tech pants and oversized puffers. The collection favors versatility, with performance fabrics such as reflective technical nylon interwoven with noble materials like richly textured wools, soft cashmeres, bouclé tweeds, and intricate embroideries created by the Safrane ateliers. For her, the runway delivers sensual A-line silhouettes, double-faced knits, and artfully pleated dresses and skirts, exuding sophistication and grace. For him, wide-leg trousers paired with contrasting color accents offer a modern take on fluid menswear. Elevated outerwear, including luxurious wool coats and A-line tech trench coats, make a statement with their blend of sophistication and comfort. One of the highlights of the show is the iconic Lacoste polo, reimagined and reinterpreted as elongated polo dresses, structured knitwear, and hybrid pieces perfect for layering. The polo is revisited with a modern twist, featuring richly textured designs that are a testament to Lacoste’s enduring appeal. The collection’s color palette draws inspiration from the brand’s signature hues, with timeless neutrals—white, crème, black-green, and warm camel—offset by vibrant, saturated tones, including the standout pink that adds a playful and contemporary touch. The result is a stunning collection that balances timeless elegance with forward-thinking design. Adding a nod to René Lacoste’s personal legacy, embroidered jeweled patches adorn many of the season’s pieces, inspired by tournament medallions from the founder’s archives. The patches feature tennis racquets, the Davis Cup, and Lacoste's own name—adding a sense of history and prestige to the modern designs. The Lenglen bag, named after tennis star Suzanne Lenglen, also makes a triumphant return to the runway, appearing in new sizes and interpretations, inspired by the movement of a pleated tennis skirt. This accessory, like much of the collection, captures the essence of Lacoste’s heritage while pushing the boundaries of contemporary style. Ultimately, Lacoste’s Fall-Winter 2025 collection serves as a love letter to the brand’s past while paving the way for its future. With Kolotouros at the helm, Lacoste continues to set new standards for modern elegance, where sport meets culture and heritage embraces the future. The models gracefully move across the transformed clay court runway, affirming that the Lacoste of today is not just about tennis—it’s about a lifestyle, a legacy, and a forward-thinking approach to contemporary fashion.
- Moschino’s Playful Workwear: Women’s Fall/Winter 2025 Collection
Moschino Fall/Winter 2025: Playful Workwear Takes Center Stage Moschino’s Playful Workwear: Women’s Fall/Winter 2025 Collection Moschino Fall/Winter 2025: Playful Workwear Takes Center Stage by Rave Staff 13 March 2025 For Fall/Winter 2025, Moschino's creative director Adrian Appiolaza draws inspiration from the idea of hard work, but with a sense of play. At the heart of the collection is the craft that defines fashion, a homage to Franco Moschino’s legacy of excellence in sartorial tailoring. Appiolaza’s latest vision fuses timeless tailoring with a timely message—a commentary on the ecological crises we face and must confront. The collection serves as a pertinent reminder that Franco Moschino's concerns from the past still resonate deeply in today's world, making his messages as relevant as ever. A reference point from Moschino mythology, Franco Moschino's iconic 1992 "mannequin" dress, provides the foundation for this collection. The dress, cut close to the body, represents both a literal and ideological basis for the Fall/Winter 2025 pieces. In many ways, the collection feels like an homage to the industry's craft—dresses appear frozen mid-creation, while tailoring is dissected, with its working parts reimagined as decorative elements. A raw selvedge, specially made for Moschino, becomes a new badge of identity. It's an ironic, non-logo detail that un-finishes the edge of tailoring, allowing it to dissolve into a free drape. Deconstruction takes center stage, but with a twist—garments are reimagined and reconstructed. Dresses are pieced together from various components of other garments, while sweaters intertwine with one another, creating a visual collage of craftsmanship. This process of recreation extends to Moschino's collaboration with the British textile company Sanderson of London. Together, they rework four of Sanderson's archival floral prints—Grandi Flora, Stapleton Park, Eton Poppy, and Everything Roses. These classic prints are given a Moschino twist, with flowers playfully smiling and lightbulbs popping within the designs. Work leads to workwear, where distressed denims and leathers are reinterpreted through Moschino's signature language of exaggeration. The collection distorts the familiar origins of these materials, playing with scale and form to create something entirely new. Iconic motifs, such as the feminine bow, are magnified or removed altogether, their silhouettes outlined against bare skin. In these moments of absence, the details become even more present, a testament to Moschino’s ability to make the unseen tangible. Craft is luxury, and at Moschino, luxury is relative. This season, that mantra is expressed through a wealth of ideas and the value of thought. Evening gowns made from paper or trash bags subvert traditional notions of elegance, while a down jacket swells around the body with the volume of a fur coat. Accessories, always playful at Moschino, continue to toy with the eye through surreal designs. At a glance, a handbag may look like anything but a handbag—a testament to the brand’s legacy of whimsical, witty fashion. As always, Moschino values its own vocabulary and icons—the ‘Smiley’, the nameplate belt, and flamenco ruffles are celebrated and reimagined in acts of quiet, personal joy. Yet the collection goes beyond fashion, embracing inclusivity. The clothes dress all genders, blending references from various walks of dress into a fluid whole. It’s a reflection of our times—non-binary, boundless, and embracing all forms of identity. Moschino’s final look for Fall/Winter 2025 delivers a direct political statement. In a nod to Franco Moschino’s activism, the closing look revives his iconic message: "SOS Save Our Sphere." It’s a powerful reminder of the house’s enduring commitment to fashion with purpose, a plea for the world to take notice and take action.
