Why One of the World's Priciest Delicacies Is Now in Your Skincare

White truffle costs a fortune on a plate — but in d'Alba's bestselling serum, it's the secret to firmer, brighter skin without the luxury price tag.

White truffle is the sort of thing you expect shaved over pasta at an eye-watering price, not misted onto your face. Yet it's the whole premise of d'Alba Piedmont, the Korean skincare brand that has just landed on noon in the UAE — and, unusually for anything involving truffle, it won't cost you a small fortune.

If the name is new to you, the numbers behind it aren't small. d'Alba's hero product, the White Truffle First Spray Serum, has sold more than 50 million bottles worldwide. The brand is Korean, vegan and named after Alba, the Piedmont town in Italy famous for its prized white truffles. It's now available on noon across Dubai and Abu Dhabi, with the rest of the GCC to follow.

So why truffle? “Most people know white truffle from food, not skincare,” says Yana Park, Head of Middle East Market at d'Alba, who has spent nine years with the brand. “But it's naturally full of antioxidants — over six times more than propolis — plus vitamin C, B12, amino acids and minerals.” Those antioxidants, she says, help defend skin against the everyday assault of pollution and sun, and the brand's truffle is sourced from a protected area of Alba known for its purity.

The claims go further than hydration. According to Park, d'Alba's patented Trufferol™ blend improved skin elasticity 3.4 times in clinical testing — “so skin looks bouncier and fine lines soften.” The pitch, in short, is that it does two things: firms and protects. Whether it lives up to the lab numbers is for your own skin to decide, but the ingredient story is more convincing than most.

t's also built for the climate here, which is not nothing. The hero serum delivers its hydration through an ultra-fine mist you can spritz over makeup and reapply through the day — useful in a city that swings between desert heat and full-blast air conditioning. The finish is light rather than tacky, which is exactly what a Dubai summer asks for.

Then there's the price, which is where d'Alba gets genuinely interesting. “We put the money into the formula, not the theatre around it,” says Park. Every product contains white truffle, so the brand buys the ingredient at scale — and that scale, she argues, is what keeps a luxury-sounding serum attainable. “Premium skincare should belong in everyday life, not just special occasions.”

For anyone who has watched “Dubai chocolate” and “glass skin” trends come and go, a truffle serum might sound like one gimmick too many. It isn't. The ingredient does real work, the price is refreshingly sane, and it's suited to exactly this climate — which makes it one of the more sensible K-beauty buys to land here this year.
