- The Riyadh Jewellery Boutique That Belongs on Your Wishlist
The Riyadh Jewellery Boutique That Belongs on Your Wishlist by Amal Riyah 2 February 2026 HH Princess Noura Bint Faisal Al Saud doesn't show up to just any ribbon-cutting. So when she arrived at Kingdom Centre last week to inaugurate Yataghan' s first Riyadh boutique alongside founder Sarah Abudawood, it registered. Not with fanfare—Abudawood doesn't do fanfare—but with the kind of quiet authority that comes from seventeen years of building something real. The timing is deliberate. Yataghan isn't just opening in Riyadh. It's also just relocated its Jeddah headquarters to Tahlia Street, swapping a lower-profile address for one of the city's most visible retail corridors. Two major moves in quick succession. That's not expansion. That's a statement. Abudawood started Yataghan in 2008, back when the idea of a Saudi jewellery brand with actual design teeth felt more like wishful thinking than business plan. She named it after a sword—short, curved, elegant, deadly—and spent the next decade and a half building a brand that somehow doesn't feel like it's trying too hard. The jewellery sits in that sweet spot between heritage and right now. Not costume-y, not trend-chasing. Just well-made things that mean something. The Riyadh boutique gets that across immediately. Grey onyx. Brass. Geometric lines. Light coming through hexagonal screens. It's spare without being cold, considered without being uptight. The kind of space where you can actually look at jewellery instead of fighting with the decor for attention. And the jewellery holds up. The Calligraphy Series—Harfi, Isme—takes Arabic script and makes it sculptural. Wearable, but with weight. Turathi and Ginea pull from Saudi history without feeling like museum pieces. Then there are the collections like Hubb, Chakra, Infinity—more architectural, cleaner lines, still unmistakably Yataghan. Abudawood calls it "tribal-chic luxury," which sounds like marketing speak until you see the pieces. Then it tracks. "At its core, Yataghan is more than jewellery," she says. "It is a movement, a celebration of identity, belonging and the enduring power of heritage reimagined for today's world." Big words. But she's earned them. This isn't some three-year-old brand trying to manufacture a legacy. Yataghan has been here, doing this, since before it was obvious that there was an appetite for it. That appetite exists now. The Saudi luxury market has shifted. Clients want homegrown brands with a point of view. They want craftsmanship that meets international standards without sanding off the cultural specificity. Yataghan saw this coming. These boutiques put the brand exactly where it needs to be—physically in front of the people who get it. But Abudawood isn't stopping at Riyadh and Jeddah. She's looking at the broader GCC, then beyond. International expansion. It's ambitious, but not unrealistic. The brand has a strong enough identity to travel. Whether it scales is another question, but the foundation is there. The Jeddah flagship matters as much as the Riyadh opening, maybe more. Tahlia Street isn't where you open if you're testing the waters. It's where you go when you're ready to compete. Street-front, high visibility, serious foot traffic. Paired with Riyadh, the message is clear: Yataghan isn't niche anymore. From day one, Abudawood has said she built Yataghan for the Saudi woman. These boutiques are that vision made physical. Not just places to buy jewellery, but spaces that reflect what the brand stands for. Identity. Heritage. Power. All the things she talks about, now grounded in actual square footage. Whether this momentum carries internationally is still to be seen. But if the Riyadh and Jeddah openings are any indication, Abudawood knows what she's doing. And she's only getting started.

- Common Kin Brings Korean-Inspired Womenswear to the UAE
Common Kin Brings Korean-Inspired Womenswear to the UAE by Khadija Husain 29 May 2025 A new name is making quiet waves in the UAE’s fashion scene. Common Kin , a womenswear label inspired by Korean design and rooted in emotional storytelling, has officially launched in the region following a soft entry last year. Founded by Central Asian creatives Svetlana Kasymalieva and Akina Sultanova, the brand introduces a thoughtful take on fashion that blends cinematic silhouettes with sustainability and cultural connection. Common Kin draws from the quiet strength of Korean drama heroines and the elegance of their understated wardrobes. Each piece is designed in Korea and produced in collaboration with ethical manufacturers using eco-conscious fabrics such as organic cotton, sustainable viscose, and premium linen. The result is a refined collection of flowing dresses, tailored separates, and soft layers that feel both timeless and personal. At the heart of the brand is the idea of kinship — a connection not only through family but through shared values, aesthetics, and emotion. This philosophy runs through every garment, reflecting a slower, more intentional approach to fashion that resists seasonal throwaways. The debut Paper Moon capsule, now available on the brand’s website, features minimal yet expressive pieces designed for gallery visits, meaningful mornings, and everything in between. With prices ranging from AED 350 to AED 850, the collection appeals to women who favour elegance without excess and style with substance. By combining Korean craftsmanship, Central Asian influence, and mindful design, Common Kin enters the UAE market with a fresh voice — one that speaks to women dressing for more than the moment.

- The Shoe That Goes Unseen But Works Every Day
The Shoe That Goes Unseen But Works Every Day by khadija Husain 8 December 2025 There’s a new kind of shoe you keep spotting at airports, on quiet café dates, during long city walks, and even at low-key creative meetings. No logos shouting for attention. No exaggerated shapes. Just clean, soft silhouettes that look like they belong everywhere. Chances are, they’re Allbirds. What makes their rise interesting isn’t loud campaigns or celebrity hype. It’s how quietly they’ve slotted into everyday wardrobes. People don’t wear Allbirds to be noticed. They wear them because they’re comfortable, reliable, and somehow work with almost everything. And lately, that kind of fashion choice feels more relevant than ever. Shopping habits have changed. We’re asking different questions now: Will this last? Can I walk all day in it? Will it still feel good by evening? Allbirds landed right in the middle of that shift. Their shoes are known for being soft straight out of the box, there are no painful break-ins, no stiff edges. You slip them on and go about your day without thinking about your feet again. They’re popular with people who are always on the move, like travellers, entrepreneurs, creatives, parents, and anyone balancing long days with unpredictable schedules. These are shoes built for real routines, not just mirror selfies. Allbirds doesn’t follow trend cycles the way most fashion brands do. Their designs stay intentionally minimal, almost anonymous. And somehow, that’s exactly why they work. They pair just as easily with linen trousers as they do with denim, athleisure, or relaxed tailoring. They don’t compete with an outfit, rather, they support it. Allbirds leans fully into comfort as the main event. Their use of soft wool, airy tree fibres, and cushioned soles creates a lightweight feel that works across seasons. The shoes adapt to your day walking, standing, commuting, and travelling without demanding adjustment from your body. Part of what draws people to Allbirds now is the absence of noise. No aggressive branding. No trend-chasing drops. No pressure to upgrade every season. It mirrors a wider lifestyle shift toward intentional choices and fewer things, better quality, and less visual chaos. Wearing something because it feels right, not because it’s everywhere online. Allbirds may sit in the footwear category, but they’re really lifestyle-led. They’re worn for school runs, travel days, casual work settings, errands, walks, weekend plans, and long days that turn into late nights. They don’t demand occasion dressing. They adapt. And in modern wardrobes, that kind of flexibility is becoming non-negotiable. That’s what makes spotting Allbirds interesting. It’s not a “look at me” shoe. It’s a “this works for me” shoe. And that mindset feels more powerful than any logo. Allbirds is quietly redefining what people expect from their everyday shoes—comfort without compromise, simplicity without boredom, and style without effort. And maybe that’s exactly why everyone’s wearing them without making a big deal about it. Because sometimes, the most interesting trends are the ones that don’t feel like trends at all.

- Timberland Marks 50 Years of Yellow Boot Legacy with Celebs in GCC Spotlight
50 Years of Timberland's Yellow Boot: GCC Celebrities Lead the Celebration Timberland Marks 50 Years of Yellow Boot Legacy with Celebs in GCC Spotlight 50 Years of Timberland's Yellow Boot: GCC Celebrities Lead the Celebration by Rave Staff 4 December 2024 Timberland has continued the momentum from last year's global celebrations marking the 50th anniversary of its Original Yellow Boot with the unveiling of the local chapter of the ICONIC campaign in the GCC. First launched in 1973, the Original Yellow Boot has become synonymous with resilience, timeless style, and global cultural significance. As the boot turns 50, Timberland has partnered with four powerful creatives—Naomi Campbell, Teddy Swims, Slawn, and Kai-Isaiah Jamal—to celebrate the spirit of fearlessness, empowerment, and bold self-expression that these figures embody, much like the boot itself. The ICONIC campaign reinforces the message of being true to oneself and celebrates individuality, traits that resonate deeply with the cultural phenomenon that Timberland’s Original Yellow Boot has become. Each figure in the campaign represents a beacon of authenticity, from the legendary Naomi Campbell to the soulful Teddy Swims, the artistic Slawn, and the thought-provoking Kai-Isaiah Jamal. Their collective presence emphasizes that, just like the boot, each person is original in their own right. The heart of the campaign is captured through the lens of photographer Jamie Morgan, who immortalized Naomi Campbell in a powerful visual statement wearing nothing but the Original Yellow Boot. Morgan, who first photographed Campbell as a young model in 1984, brings this iconic moment full circle, highlighting the timelessness of both the supermodel and the boot. Shot in a monochrome palette, the images focus on the authenticity and enduring allure of both the figure and the boot. “We’ve seen tremendous energy behind the brand since our anniversary, with several luxury fashion collaborations this year alone,” says Maisie Willoughby, Chief Marketing Officer for Timberland. “The ICONIC campaign is an extension of that energy, signifying a fresh direction for the brand and fueling our status as the arbiter of boot culture. This campaign is incredibly bold and authentic, and Timberland has always been about embracing originality; and what is more iconic than the Original Yellow Boot?” The Original Yellow Boot has always been more than just footwear; it’s a statement of resilience, quality, and enduring style. With its distinct wheat color and unmatched craftsmanship, the boot has become a symbol of youth culture and has remained a cornerstone in the fashion world for five decades. This latest campaign solidifies the boot's legacy and paves the way for the next 50 years, celebrating the unique combination of craftsmanship and cultural impact that Timberland continues to embody. In Dubai, Timberland takes the celebration further by offering an exclusive in-store experience. Customers purchasing the 6-inch boot at select stores can personalize their boots with unique customization options, transforming the iconic Yellow Boot into a personal expression of style. This special in-store experience is available at Timberland stores located at The Dubai Mall, Mall of the Emirates, and Dubai Hills Mall. With collaborations like the recent partnership with Louis Vuitton, Timberland continues to solidify its place as a leader in boot culture. The ICONIC campaign, supported by digital, social media, and event activations, further enhances the brand’s legacy and commitment to innovation. Timberland’s Original Yellow Boot is available now at its storefronts across the region, continuing to inspire generations to embrace their original selves.
